1. National Privacy Principles
We are bound by the National Privacy Principles ("NPP") and will comply with them to the extent required by the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
2. Collecting personal information about you
The type of personal information we collect and hold would depend on the information required on any part of CiSRA’s websites (collectively referred to as the “Site”). For example, we may ask for your email address if you access some of our downloadable material on the Site. Some of the information we collect may not be personal information because it would not reveal your identity. The only personal information which we collect about you is what you tell us about yourself in communications you send to us. We do not collect personal information without your knowledge.
3. Using and disclosing your personal information
In general, we will use any personal information that we collect about you to provide you with information that you request from us about our company. We may also use your personal information to provide you with information about other products and services offered or distributed by us or by our related companies. We may also disclose your information to companies within the Canon Group so that they can tell you about products and services offered by them.
We refer some of our functions to external service providers and contractors. We may disclose your personal information to these service providers but only so that they can provide the services that we have contracted out to them.
Some of the Site may collect certain personal information about you depending on the webpage. We will deal with such requests as soon as possible. Requests for a large amount of information or information not currently in use may require further time before a response can be given. In accordance with the NPP, we may refuse to give you access to personal information that we hold about you in circumstances where giving you access:
- would have an unreasonable impact on other people's privacy;
- would prejudice negotiations we are having with you;
- would prejudice an investigation of unlawful activity; or
- would prejudice activities carried out by, or for, a law enforcement agency.
This list is not exhaustive and there may be other reasons in which we would refuse access in accordance with the NPP.
Upon your request, we will take all reasonable steps to correct any personal information about you which is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date if you can establish that such information is incorrect. If we disagree with you about the accuracy, completeness or currency of your personal information, then, upon your request, we will take reasonable steps to associate that information with a statement that you disagree with the information we hold.
